This post is an add-on for How To Make A Boffer. Cross-guards are not usually a necessity but they make your weapon look more unique and it helps protect your hands from getting whacked by rogue boffers.
Materials:
- PVC or a boffer
- closed-cell foam (I recommend puzzle piece foam because it is denser)
- double-sided outdoor carpet tape
- duct tape
Step 1:
Lay your boffer against the closed-cell foam and mark out the design you want. Be careful not to make your design too thin as it will be more likely to rip.
Step 2:
Cut out the design.
Step 3:
Copy the design three more times and cut them out. Cut out the width of your boffer’s core from two sections; these will be your mid-sections.
Step 4:
Use strips of carpet tape to attach both mid-section left wings together. Do the same for the right wings.
Step 5:
Stick a strip of carpet tape to the PVC shaft of the boffer.
Step 6:
Attach the left and right mid-sections to either side of the shaft.
Step 7:
Apply carpet tape to both sides of the mid-section wings.
Step 8:
Put each of the full cross-guard pieces on either side of the taped wings and clean up the edges.
Step 9:
Apply duct tape to the exterior for a sleeker look and to make it sturdier.
As usual, I hope you liked my tutorial. If you use it to make your own boffer then send me some photos. 😀
