Glossary

Boffer:  A weapon, usually made from foam or latex, used for simulating combat.

CP/XP:  Character Points or Experience Points.  These are the points, earned by players, that they can put towards their characters to level them up and buy new skills and abilities.

Frags:  A currency earned by purchasing with real money, volunteer work, or donations.  Can be used to unlock special races, classes, or abilities.

GM:  Stands for Game Master.  Usually the owner or organizer.  They establish the plot, quests, and monsters.

IG: Stands for In-Game.  A person is fully immersed in the character they are playing.  Anything they do, say, or hear during this time is their character and does not necessarily reflect the person playing the character.

LARP:  Stands for Live Action Role-Play.  We create a character, make a costume, and then interact with other player’s characters in an immersive fictional environment.

NPC: Stands for Non-Player Character.  The monsters that you fight or characters you interact with that are not a full-time character that a person plays.

OOG:  Stands for Out-Of-Game.  When a person is talking about something unrelated to the game they are playing or learning information that their character does not necessarily know.

PC:  Stands for Player Character.  A character that a person plays full-time.  They are invested in the character.

Shaper:  A person, usually chosen by the GM, who assists in writing the plot, quests, and coming up with monsters.

Soul:  A sheet of paper that lists your character’s name, race, class, level, and skills.  You must always have this with you during game.
